WINDOWS 95/98 ip configuration:
Batch files are a great tool to help trouble shoot a customers problem, However having the customer run manual trace routes and pings is also very helpfull to both you and your Tier 3 agent in properly pin-pointing the customers exact problem. To do so you need to get them in dos mode. Now Windows 95/98/Me are the same basically but Windows 2000 is different and in some ways easier.

CUT & PASTE:95/98/Me To Cut N Paste you will have to ask them to right click the dos icon at the top right of the dos window and and go to edit then mark. This will leave a blinking white cube at the top right inside the dos window. You then ask them to hold the left click on the cube while they drag their pointer over all the
test results you are wanting got copy. After that while the selected area is highlighted white you then right click the dos icon again and go to edit and then copy......then you paste it wherever you want it! Look below for example of what this looks like, or try it yourself on Windows NT workstation.




In 2000 their is no need to do all this, You can simple cut and paste with the mouse pointer as normal.

DOS COMMANDS you will need to use and that will be very helpfull to you and the customer. tracert: Is for trace routing from their machine. netstat: Will show them all live connections to their PC and their ip #''s
