1. What steps should be taken to provision a new mail account or change an existing mail account?

If they are in a Network Service Model (NSA) look to see if the customer is in FRED and provision account here. If they are not a NSA site look the customer up in Werewolf and provision their account here. If the site is a Portal Conversion site you have to send the request through a Remedy Ticket to Provisioning
and assign it to Provisioning Issues. You will know that it is a Portal Conversion site when you go to the Market Page and you get a pop up message informing you that it is a conversion site.

2. How do you add a new account in Outlook Express and Outlook 2000?


Click on Tools
Go down to Accounts
Click on the Mail Tab
Click on Add
Select Mail
It will ask for a Display Name > This is where you have the Customer type in
their First and Last name
Hit Next
Type in the e mail address in all lower case letters
Click Next
At the top of the screen is will say My incoming mail server is a POP3 Server Beneath that will be the Incoming mail field, in all lower case letters type in pop.charter.net Under that will be the Outgoing mail field, in all lower case letters type in smtp.charter.net (or whatever the mail servers name is on the market page)
Click Next
Enter your password in all lower case letters
Click Next
Click Finish
Click Close


Try sending them a test e mail and having them click on Send/Receive


3. How do you add a new account in Netscape?

Click on Edit
Select Preferences
Click the plus sign next to Mail and Newsgroups to open the list
Click on Identity
Enter the Display Name and e mail address ( make sure e mail address is in all lower case)
Click on Mail Servers
Under Incoming Mail Servers Click on Add
Enter the Server Name (ex. mail.charter.net)
Then select the Server type which will always be a POP3 Server
Now enter the User name in all lower case letters
Click OK
Under Outgoing Mail Server enter the server name (ex. smtp.charter.net)
Then enter the user name here as well
Make sure that under Use Secure Socket Layer(SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages that
Never is selected
Then Click on OK

Send them a test message and then have them go to File and select Get New Messages


4. How do you add a new account in Outlook 97?

Click on Tools
Click on Services
Click on Add
Select Internet e mail
Enter the correct settings (same as above)


5. How do you create Identities in Outlook Express?

Click on File
Identities
Add New Identity
Enter A Display Name
Click OK
It will ask if you would like to switch to that account, say yes
The email set up wizard will then come up and you will enter all the same information as listening in Question #2.

6. If a customer is receiving errors when trying to send and receive mail and all the settings are correct on our end as well as theirs, what is the next step introubleshooting this issue?

At this point, we would remove and reinstall the account on their end.

7. Any information that you need to know about the mail servers for an area can be found where?

On the Intranet, under the market page.
